Vengai story:

Vengai is typical movie of Hari’s stamp. It is just the tale of father and son affection and in between comes some action and love which forms Vengai.

Selvam (Dhanush) is the son of Veerapandi (Raj Kiran) who is an influential person in a village in Sivaganga district and does all good for the welfare of the village. Prakash Raj fondly called as Annachi becomes MLA for this region and Veerapandi takes an oath from Annachi to do only good things for the people in the village. However, Annachi brings out his evil image and does all illegal activities to make money and exercise his power. But Veerapandi, who gets angry with his activities, tries to stop them. Selvam who comes to know about his activities takes things in his hands but his father sends him to Trichy.

Selvam comes across Radhika (Tamannah) who is his childhood friend. Both of them within no time fall in love for each other. As Veerapandi is always standing as a problem for his activities Annachi decides to settle Veerapandi scores. From here the Tom and Jerry show starts between them. How Annachi takes revenge on Veerapandi? Will the love life of Selvam and Radhika turn successful? How will Dhanush settle the scores with Annachi? Checkout for the answers on the big screens…….

Performances:

Dhanush once again wins the hearts of audience with his superb performance as an angry young man. His mannerisms, ease in performing tough fights and gracy dance movements are the show stealers. Overall, Dhanush lived up to the expectations in all aspects.

Speaking about Tamanna, she is a perfect fit for the role of Radhika. She oozes in glamour in traditional outfits too and looked ultra glamorous in songs with skimpy outfits.

Prakashraj was again usually at his best. It looks like words are not enough to praise Prakash Raj as he is the tailor-made for the role of a corrupt politician. He also brought out some laughter which reminds his character in Ghilli.

Raj Kiran played his part well. He brought out anger, agony, frustration and love in right proportions. Comedy by Ganja Karuppu has brought some laughs.

Technicalities:

Director Hari yet again proved that he is good at handling mass masala films. His most gripping screenplay and effective narration will impress the viewers. True winner is Hari for his jet speed screenplay.

Vetri’s cinematography is worth mentioning and especially the way he captured the village beauty, songs and action sequences is good. Vijayan’s editing was sharp and made the movie not to loose its grip. Production values are great. Music by Devisri Prasad is peppy and foot-tapping. All the songs were excellently picturised.

Analysis:

For all those who have the heart to enjoy the regular formula based, masala action films…Vengai serves you 100% satisfaction. First half was neatly brought out with the right force for second half by successfully creating a strong conflict between hero and villain. Again the action drama continues in second half. Action based formula movies always have their own stamina to break the BO.

The audiences feel satisfied as Hari has some good moments along with thrilling moments coming out as a surprise in the climax. Action, racy script, strong and gripping narration, power packed performance of Dhanush and Raj Kiran, Tamanna glamour and DSP’s music stand as plus points of the film. On the flip side, the film has a familiar theme in regular style of Hari. Given the good amount of publicity by the team and a word of mouth, Vengai has all the chances to make it big at BO, especially ‘B & C’ centres.

Vengai is a regular action formula film with sundry elements of entertainment sprinkled around. Worth a look-in if you are a fan of Dhanush or Tamanna.

Final Verdict: A power packed action masala entertainer…

Facebook/Twitter Banned In Thailand For Election

"In the run up to the July 3rd election in Thailand, use of Twitter, Facebook, and other social media are bannedfor campaigning and other election related purposes. Offenders face a maximum six months in prison and a 10,000 baht ($330) fine. The ban includes sending short telephone texts and forwarding emails. 'There will be a unit of more than 100 officers to monitor this,' said police spokesman Prawut Thavornsiri of the social media ban. 'If we can track the origin of (an online message) right away, we will block the site and make an arrest. But if the sites are registered overseas and we can't check the origin, we'll first block it and ask the IP (Internet Protocol) providers for further investigation,' Prawut said."

Facebook to launch ''something awesome'' next week: Zuckerberg

From Yoshita Singh Boston, Jul 1 (PTI) Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has a surprise up his sleeve for the over 500 million users of his social networking site with the billionaire CEO today saying his company is planning to "launch something awesome" next week. Zuckerberg, speaking at his company''s office in Seattle, did not divulge any further details apart from saying that the company planned to "launch something awesome" next week. However, it is being speculated that the new feature to be launched could be in the mobile or tablet space. A report in the Los Angeles Times said there are various mobile products in development at Facebook, including the release of a long-awaited Facebook app for Apple''s iPad and a specialised app for photo-sharing on the iPhone. "We are working on a number of exciting things that we have not yet announced, but stay tuned for next week," the report quoted Facebook director of engineering Andrew Bosworth as saying. The project has been developed at the 40-person Seattle office, which is Facebook''s only major engineering hub outside of its Palo Alto, California headquarters. In the past, the Seattle office has played a key role in Facebook''s mobile efforts, the report said. Facebook''s Seattle office has made a mark on the company''s mobile efforts, playing a central role in the development of Facebook''s unified mobile site, unveiled in March, it added.

Facelifted Toyota Innova and Fortuner by 2012

The Toyota Innova was launched almost seven years ago, and the car will features a whole new refreshed look. While most cars usually go for a new generation model at this stage, that won’t be the case with the Innova. Following a minor facelifted variant back in 2009 and upgraded BS-IV complaint engine in 2010, the latest change to the Innova will probably be its most significant.
The exterior changes include new head lights with a day time element as well. The grille is also taller and features chrome slats running across it. The front bumper is also new and features new fog lights. The tail lights have clear lens. The rear end bumper is also integrated with parking sensors available in the high end V variant.
Seeing that the Innova is not seen a lot of changes in its interiors, it is likely that Toyota could take this chance to make some changes in the instrumentation and centre console, along with new trim levels. Toyota is also expected to make the Innova roomier than before including a new design for the seats or third row seating.
There are no changes expected in the engine offerings, as the intercooler was introduced last year itself. While no significant changes are expected, they will certainly be welcome.
Apart from the Innova, Toyota is also likely to introduce some changes in its Fortuner SUV. While the Fortuner was launched not more than two years back in India, it has been available in global markets far longer. Changes expected in this model are mostly cosmetic. This could include a larger grille that has horizontal chrome slats compared to the current honeycomb grille, a new bumper for the front and rear end with new fog lights and larger head lights.
There are also some changes expected in the interior that will most likely involve the instrumentation and trims; however changes could be lesser than in the Innova. The facelifted models can be expected in the Indian auto market by early 2012 with slightly higher price tags.

Mamata welcomes SC order on Singur

Welcoming the Supreme Court's interim order on the Singur land case, West Bengal  Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee  said on Wednesday the apex court did not stop land survey and the 'process of distribution of land'.

"We welcome the Supreme court order.

"It will go in favour of the farmers and in favour of the people," she told reporters commenting on the apex court order.

The chief minister, who had a talk with government lawyer Kalyan Banerjee on the apex court order, said the Supreme Court had not stopped the land survey and process of distribution of land in Singur.

"The apex court only said that distribution of land would be stopped till the Calcutta high court passes its judgement on the case," she said.

The Supreme Court directed the West Bengal government not to go ahead with distribution and return of land in Singur to farmers which was acquired for Tata Motors' small car project Nano

"As an interim order, we direct state government not to hand over or return land to farmers concerned until further order passed by the Calcutta high court," a vacation bench comprising justices P Sathasivam an A K Patnaik said.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Tata Motors challenging the order of Calcutta high court which refused to grant any relief to it.
