BlackBerry PlayBook coming to India

Research In Motion is all set to launch its its first tablet device in the Indian market. As per a report published in Business Today online, the BlackBerry PlayBook is slated to be released on June 22 at a price point around Rs. 32,000. The pricing may vary for different versions.

The device which got mixed reaction ever since it was announced in the global market as some tech sites described it as a 'half baked' product by RIM. In India, however, the PlayBook has to face stiff competition from the next generation Apple iPad 2, Samsung Galaxy Tab and Motorola Xoom.

The launch of RIM's PlayBook was always imminent as the device was earlier listed on HomeShop18 for sale. The BlackBerry tablet sports a 1GHz dual-core processor, Blackberry OS and a 7 inch capacitive LCD touchscreen.

Along with effective dual cameras that can record full 1080p footage, the device includes number of sensors for gaming and mapping. The other key features of the new PlayBook include GPS, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and a Digital Compass.

Equipped with Wi-Fi feature, the device comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions. Also, Facebook and video chat apps have arrived recently on the the PlayBook device.
